One of my favorite Pixar movies is “The Incredibles” about a family of superheroes living in suburbia.
If I were Brad Bird (the creator and writer of that movie and my other favorite, “Ratatouille”) I’d make a movie called, “The Indescribables” and include exhausted dill plants like the photo above. I have a whole series on this plant on my porch (in suburbia) that is totally exhausted, drooping and spindly gone and absolutely knock out gorgeous to me.
Rule #2:
Objects of beauty past prime still retain color, form, and composition. Take me for example, I’m 64.
But don’t you be photographing me with a macro lens.

Photograph was taken with Canon D5 and 180mm macro lens. 3.5 at 1/200. Wind was involved as well. Photoshop tweaking with Levels and Curves. I’m a big fan of Levels and Curves but usually with my macro shots very little is needed.

This is gorgeous! Tip #2 is a one not to be forgotten.
Don, these things knock me out when I load them into the computer and they pop up. Seriously, I’m like…”Whoa…” Happy to share this world right on my porch!
I absolutely love the colors in this one… it speaks to me. Gosh Pat, one of the things that attracts me to your art above other people’s is that you are so unique with your style. You don’t ever shoot anything the same way, choose the same type of subjects. You are always pushing yourself to see another angle or style. I love that about you. You are my hero.
